This notice explains what we do with personal information collected through this website.

Last updated: 6 November 2026

This website is operated by MacLean & Bruce Limited, a company registered in Scotland under company number SC450922, whose registered office is at Waggon House, Mid Waggon Road, Crossford, Dunfermline, Fife KY11 3HF. We are registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office under registration reference ZB450490.

For the purposes of UK data protection law we are the data controller for the information described below. Data protection enquiries are handled by our admin team. If you have any question about this notice, or about information we hold, write to us at whisky@macleanandbruce.com.

When you complete the enquiry form on this site we collect the name, email address and telephone number you give us, the subject of your enquiry, and anything you choose to write in the message. When you download our cask guide, we collect your name, email address and country, your answer about buying a cask, and whether you have ticked the box allowing us to contact you.

We also receive limited technical information automatically when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you looked at. This comes from the systems that host and serve the site rather than from anything you fill in.

We use the information you send through the enquiry form to answer you and, if it leads somewhere, to deal with you as a client. Our lawful basis for this is legitimate interests: you have contacted us and expect a reply. When you download the cask guide, we use your details to send you the guide. We will only contact you again, with news, guides and whisky releases, if you tick the box giving us permission to do so; our lawful basis for that is your consent, and you can withdraw it at any time by unsubscribing or writing to us.

If we go on to do business together we will hold your information to perform our contract with you and to meet our legal obligations, including record-keeping required of us for tax and for the sale of alcohol.

We will only send you marketing if you have asked us to, and you can tell us to stop at any time.

This website is built and hosted on Webflow, which stores enquiry form submissions on our behalf. Webflow is based in the United States, so information submitted through this site is transferred outside the United Kingdom. Transfers of this kind are made subject to appropriate safeguards as required by UK data protection law.

Enquiries sent through this website are stored by Webflow, who host the site, and emailed to us at MacLean & Bruce, where they are held in Microsoft 365. Only the people who need to answer your enquiry have access to it. Some other services receive your IP address when you use particular parts of the site: Cloudflare, whose Turnstile check protects our forms against spam; the providers behind the distillery map, OpenFreeMap (map tiles) and unpkg (map software); and YouTube, which shows the preview image of our film and, only if you press play, the film itself, using its privacy-enhanced mode. They receive only what your browser sends to load those features, and none of them sets tracking cookies.

We do not sell your information to anyone, and we do not share it for anyone else’s marketing.

Where an enquiry does not lead to business, we keep it for twenty-four months from our last contact with you and then delete it. Where we have gone on to do business with you, we keep those records for six years after our last dealing with you, because our tax and trading obligations require it.

This site sets a small number of cookies needed for it to work properly. If you agree through the banner when you arrive, it also uses Google Analytics, provided by Google, to measure visits and see which pages are read. Google processes that information on our behalf, and we do not use it for advertising.

If you decline, Google Analytics does not load. You can change your choice at any time with the Cookie settings link at the foot of every page. Our cookie policy sets out what is used and why.

You have the right to ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, to have it corrected if it is wrong, and in some circumstances to have it deleted or its use restricted. You can also object to us using it, and ask us to transfer it elsewhere.

To exercise any of these, write to whisky@macleanandbruce.com. We will respond within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.

We may update this notice from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
